Tatiana-Mosio
Bongonga
Tatiana-Mosio Bongonga is a tightrope walker and co-artistic director of the Basinga company. She discovered tightrope walking at the age of eight and has devoted more than thirty years of her life to this demanding art form, continually pushing its boundaries and reinventing it.
She trained with artists including Rudy Omankovsky and Tony Astarys and collaborated with various companies before founding Basinga with Jan Naets. She holds a degree in circus instruction and is certified in mental performance training through Minnd. Her approach to tightrope walking is holistic, bringing together technique, awareness, responsibility, and human connection as inseparable elements.
Through Basinga’s performances, teaching and knowledge-sharing initiatives, lectures, and “steps to the side”—projects that venture beyond conventional artistic practice—she explores the human, social, and political issues facing her field, with the aim of helping it evolve.
For her, the tightrope is more than a performance: it is a space for connection, shared vulnerability, and collective reflection.
